Analysis of the cause of difficulty in starting the Cummins NT855-C280 diesel engine

Release time: 2020-07-12 11:21:51 Source: Bulldozer

Drivers often encounter the problem of difficulty in starting the bulldozer engine. We take a TY160 bulldozer equipped with Cummins NT855-C280 diesel engine as an example. First, the exhaust pipe emits white smoke, then the white smoke disappears by itself, and the water temperature appears again. High, the oil pressure is too low, a large amount of white liquid still overflows under the water filler cover of the water radiator, preliminary inspection found that the fan tape is broken, the water surface in the water radiator drops a lot, the oil in the oil pan, diesel and water are three liquids at the same time exist.

There are two common causes of high water temperature. 1: The fan tape is too loose or broken. 2: The thermostat is invalid.

There are many reasons for the low oil pressure. According to the combination of a large amount of milky white liquid overflowing under the water inlet cover of the water radiator, the water level of the wheel drops after the shutdown, and a large amount of water appears in the oil pan. It is initially concluded that the oil cooler has failed. After inspection, the oil pipe in the oil cooler has been broken. Replace the oil cooler and filter, add oil and water again, and the fault disappears. The 1.2 cylinder of the Cummins engine adopts the direct fuel supply method of the fuel tank. The driver does not turn off the main tank switch in time after the engine is stopped. Diesel enters the two cylinders through the fuel pipe, resulting in a large amount of white smoke generated by the diesel explosion in the combustion chamber during startup. The seal with the piston ring is not strict, and the diesel in the combustion chamber penetrates into the oil pan along the cylinder wall.

For this reason, the driver is required to turn off the main switch of the fuel tank in time for every shutdown, especially for a long time, to avoid accumulation of diesel in the combustion chamber.

In addition, in winter or when the temperature is low, the cooling water (or use antifreeze) should be discharged in time to avoid frostbite oil cooler, water pump and cylinder block and other parts.
